Psychology Resources

The following resources are provided for mental health professionals.  The sections are separated by resources at the local (San Diego County), state (California), and national levels.

San Diego County

  • Alcoholics Anonymous. Get information about local Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, locations, and events.  An extensive library to assist those with alcohol concerns or issues is provided at this site.
  • San Diego County Mental Health. This website provides information about services, locations, and contact information for mental health services in San Diego County.
  • San Diego Psychological Association. A link to the largest association for psychologists in San Diego County.  This website provides information about the SDPA, membership, continuing education opportunities in San Diego, and other member benefits.
  • Scripps Memorial Hospital. Scripps Memorial Hospital offers a variety of medical, clinical, emergency, and treatment programs.  Locations, contact information, and descriptions of services are provided at this site.  Find out about each aspect of the Scripps Memorial Hospitals.
  • Sharp Hospitals. Sharp Mesa Vista Hospital provides a range of medical and clinical services, including emergency room, psychiatry, and ICU units.  Descriptions of each hospital and programs in San Diego County are provided.
  • UCSD Hospitals. This link provides information on UCSD’s Thornton and Hillcrest hospitals.  Information on health services, emergency services, programs, and referral services are provided at this site.
  • UCSD Psychiatry. UCSD Psychiatry programs offer several inpatient and outpatient psychiatric treatment programs.  For more information about extensive psychiatric programs offered by UCSD Psychiatry, click on this link.

California

  • California Board of Psychology. The California Board of Psychology provides information about the professional practice of psychology in California, licensure, supervision, legal/ethical matters, and Board updates and proceedings.
  • California Psychological Association. A link to the California Psychological Association  Get information about membership, continuing education opportunities in California, and other psychology related information.

National

  • Alcoholics Anonymous. Get information on one of the largest and oldest substance treatment organizations in the world.  This national site provides information about the AA history, philosophy, and treatment program.  Links to local AA organizations are provided.
  • American Psychological Association. A link to the largest association of psychologists in the United States.  Information on APA, its Divisions, current issues in psychology, employment, membership, and conference information are provided.
  • American Counseling Association. The American Counseling Association represents professional counselors and psychologists.  This link provides information about the organization, membership, and conference information.
  • Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards. The ASPPB provides information about licensing boards throughout the United States and Canada.  Information on psychology licensure, reciprocity, and the EPPP are provided.
  • Counseling Center Village. This site provides the largest “hub” of counseling center information on the web. Counseling center directories, virtual pamphlets, internships, outreach/workshop presentations, and other helpful resources are available at this site.
  • Screening for Mental Health. This organization is known for its National Screening Days (e.g., alcohol, depression, eating disorders).  This site provides online mental health assessments and resources for multiple clinical and psychological topics.
  • National Institute of Health. The “NIH” website provides information on health-related topics and research, and provides resources and links to other health-oriented sites.  Learn about current issues in the field of health and medicine, and access to information about grants and programs.
  • National Institute of Mental Health. The “NIMH” website offers information about mental health topics and issues, current research, trends in the field of mental health and psychology, and other helpful resources.  Get information about current calls for proposals and grants.
  • U-Lifeline. This “lifeline” provides information and numerous resources on mental health issues that college students face.  This site is highly interactive and provides online mental health screenings and opportunities to interact with mental health professionals (e.g., Ask Alice!).  Though tailored to provide information about college student populations, this site is an excellent resource for professionals, faculty, staff, administrators, and parents.
